This is the moment. The moment when the ocean waves crashed into the horizon for as far as the eye could grasp. The wind was fierce as it blew the salty air all around us. The way they looked at each other as if they were picturing growing old together as future husband and wife. This was the moment. The moment that became so real, as my pointer finger clutched down on the camera’s shutter, while capturing this moment.
The way I see it, is thats what it’s all about. Love is so powerful and such a strong force. It’s too strong to be an emotion or feeling shared, it’s truly a driven desire, it’s a decision that’s made on both parts. These two definitely have that beautiful spark about their love and I enjoyed being able to document it through imagery.
I had the opportunity to go to the Grand Cayman Islands on a family trip and then, to shoot Ryan and Cheyenne’s Engagement session while being there. Their shoot has been on the books quite a few months and was 100% worth the wait. Upon arriving at this Island, there was a tropical storm that wasn’t going anywhere from the forecast. It rained all week, so we had to be flexible on the gamble of which day might be the best for the session, but we were prepared to shoot in whatever the weather threw at us. Needless to say, it’s like the Lord blew away the dark rain clouds and blessed us with a beautiful evening. These are just some of my personal favorites from the shoot… And if you keep up with my posting on Instagram or FaceBook stories, you’ll remember how I said they jumped in the ocean!!! Yes, I’m serious, Cheyenne in her beautiful dress and Ryan drenched from head to toe. We all couldn’t stop laughing. Scroll down to see what I’m talking about and to see some behind the senes!
See what I mean?!!! I’m sure you can tell how in love they are even if Cheyenne made Ryan get in the ocean 😉
Here are some of those behind the scenes iphone moments. If you’re wondering what all the green is on the pier, the rain had splashed up thick seaweed (and I mean thick) My mother-in-law was such a champ at helping me clear most of the pier off before shooting! TIP: Something about me as a photographer, my goal is to having where I’m shooting look spotless before hand, so if there’s trash, belongings or in our case moss, I had to clear it out. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have given the images the same results.
Thanks so much for checking out the blog! I loved that Ryan and Cheyenne wanted to do a destination engagement shoot. For any of you newly engaged couples, this is the perfect example of how to plan a trip and also your engagement session! Many couples love the thought of a destination wedding but it’s not always practical for their situation. So instead, plan a destination engagement session with a photographer willing to travel. OR this even works for couples that have an anniversary coming up! It’s a win win for everyone and you get amazing pics out out of it! I love to travel and photograph, so send me a message if your that couple.
If you’d like to join me through sessions or my life as a wife and photographer, feel free to subscribe for my monthly newsletter! Also, if you’re wanting to see more from the BEAUTIFUL Grand Cayman family trip, you’ll definitely want to subscribe because there will be another blog coming soon from our week at the island. I’ll just leave you with this, we did many fun things that I’ll tell you about, but one I will leave you with… is hunting for iguana because of the overpopulation!!! SUBSCRIBE HERE!
